Gummy Smile Procedure (Non-1 Day Procedure)

Your smile will tend to seem stuffy if your gums are thick or are covering too much of your teeth. A gummy smile refers to the overexposure of gums when you smile. In such cases, you will need to go through a procedure in which the gums are thinned or your teeth are more exposed through fixing your gum line.

Causes of a Gummy Smile

Muscles that are too strong (that pull your upper lips too high when you smile)

A short philtrum(that is not enough to cover your gums; this easily exposes much of your gums)

An overdeveloped frenulum (that reaches below the average line; covers your teeth much more than necessary)

Short teeth (that are covered by your gums)‍

Gum-related Procedures

Gummy Smile Procedure is Necessary…

When too much of one’s gums are showing when smiling

When the tooth is short and small because the gum is covering a large portion of it

When the height of your gum is different (uneven gum line)

When the gum caved in so much that the roots of your teeth are exposed, and your teeth look too long (gum line recession)

Botox

Botox may also be done to help shape the muscles around your mouth to make your smile its best version possible. The effects, however, last only for a few months. When you are satisfied with the way it has turned out, you may go on to the next step and receive surgery to get the same effects permanently.
